Stay Safe During Winter Season

“Chatter-Chatter”-The teeth have started chattering after a bath because the winter season is knocking on the doors. The flowers of Night-flowering Jasmine are blossoming and spreading a soft fragrance in the garden. The dew drops over grasses and the experience of walking bare feet over them is superb and healthy as well. But the winter season also demands some precautions and safety measures to stay safe and healthy along with enjoying it. Even our parents and guardians especially ‘Nani’ or ‘Dadi’ scold us to be safe from cold. Various small things are needed to be cared for to protect ourselves from freezing.

During winter the temperature goes down and changes in the temperature may affect the body. During the initial phase of winter, careless behaviors may cause illness. Warm clothes and head covering to avoid drew-drops during the night are good.

  • The nourishment of the skin is also vital during winter. Regular use of moisturizing products and nutritious foods can save the skin from dryness. Have foods rich in vitamin C for example oranges, limes, strawberries, peppers, and more.
  • Taking a sun bath makes it warm and healthy because it provides Vitamin D naturally and also has an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effect. A proper diet is also very necessary to be healthy. In winter generally, people eat without worrying. The best entertainment during winter is staying at home in a cozy bed, having delicious food of choice, and watching movies or TV with the family. But the body must be hydrated with warm water for better functioning of the digestion system. The food items which keep the body warm like almonds, sesame, jaggery, etc. increase immunity and protect from the cold.
  • The cold wave and mist during the night are riskier to health and the body. There are many cases of accidents due to fog in the winter season. One should avoid going outside except for emergencies during that period. But tourism is preferable during winter because of the low temperatures in hotter areas.

The winter season also comes with lots of festivals e.g., Christmas, New Year, Makar Sankranti (Indian), etc. So, make sure to do some exercises regularly, maintenance of hygiene and sanitation, avoid cold waves and rains during winter and have warm water and a proper diet to boost immunity can make winters blissful and safe.
